Your are the girl-boss. You love to create and build things like careers or programs. Your go to word is “productive”. You have high ambitions and often struggle to find the energy to complete it all. Your body is usually the last thing you worry about when you are in “go mode”. You may forget to eat or use the restroom until reminded. You have trouble keeping focused on things so you are afraid you will lose momentum, so you ride the wave as long as you can. When you are not in the flow of productivity, you tend to worry a lot about your body. Am I fertile? Is there something wrong with me? There are a lot of internal body fears. When you get sick, you GET SICK. Most of the models you see are ectomorphs, and tend to have a long and lean appearance with less body fat than most. You do not gain weight easily and can take it off quickly. You struggle with building muscle and strength.

You might gain weight when eating and focus are off track, but you can put your mind to losing weight. Your body has a quick metabolism that allows you to eat the kinds of food that everyone else avoids. If you do just eat whatever you want, you can become what is known as “skinny fat”. You just don’t feel like yourself and your digestion gets out of whack. When you focus on health goals it is more about feeling good in your body and getting more energy so that you can be more focused and productive. You want to know more how to handle the digestion issues that can sometimes come on with feeling bloated and distended in the stomach. It can come on from out of nowhere and it is very confusing to know what is impacting you. It can be very painful and annoying. You crave results.

Kayla happens to be an ectomorph. Ectomorphs, now this isn’t the be all end all in body chemistry or a full scope of all that you truly are. I am not a nutritionist or a personal trainer, and this is not to substitute medical advice. I happen to understand the personality of this body type and what it needs. I have studied extensively “why” we are the way we are and how to work around that to see results, in every area of your life. When ectomorphs focus on the body, and see results with more energy and vibrancy, your productivity increases exponentially. Your focus craves proper and consistent nutrition. Your energy increases as you gain more muscle and have the ability to store more energy. Your reason for focusing on the body is more about creating habits that increase focus and productivity, with less digestive issues and sickness.

YOU HAVE VERY UNIQUE NEEDS

  • You have trouble gaining muscle weight

  • You need structure and REMINDERS to eat/drink/move every day

  • You struggle with circulation, feeling warm

  • You would prefer to just keep going no matter what, disregarding body needs

  • You are prone to anxiety over despair or depression

  • You “feel a lot” but tend to push it away causing more digestive issues

  • You do not adapt easily to change, and prefer a steady routine

  • You have a hard time making your body a priority

  • You prefer to be alone to work as your focus is easily lost

  • You have a big beautiful heart and often feel the comparison of others making judgments about your body.

  • You feel the envy and frustration of others. People assume it is easy for you because of your appearance, but they don’t know how you feel inside your body.

What you truly need to change.

You body type needs to have consistency and to be priority over your to-do lists. When you properly feed yourself consistently you will be able to focus more on your tasks and feel like you can get things done in a timely manner. Your body type craves the familiar. You will find that when you eat the same thing everyday at the same time, your body starts to trust that you get the nutrition it needs to keep your energy high. Of course you can eat different things, you just prefer a streamlined approach that is easy to implement, think of Steve Jobs and the black turtlenecks. This is one last thing you have to think about or waste precious energy deciding what to eat all the time. This is very different than the endomorphs that need to constantly trick their system with different foods. You can indulge your desire to have less work in decisions.

Your body type has a naturally high metabolism. You might tend to gravitate towards the cardio workouts because they are easy for you. If you haven’t worked out in awhile but decide to go for a three mile run, your body will usually find the ability to run that three miles with no training. You may still be sore the next day. Where you need to focus is more on resistance training and building muscles. This will help your circulation and energy levels. Your body type tends to struggle keeping focus and having more energy resources will help you feel like you have more mental capacity and clarity.

You will want to get moving right away. Jump into a workout, a shower, or whatever you need that starts you moving right away. Your body type needs a slow and graceful end to the day and you can relax and slow down then. But in the morning, you will want to resist hitting the snooze button and get moving.

  • To get up early and go to bed early

  • To jump into the day with movement

  • Sleep and it is essential to help with focus and productivity

  • REMINDERS set on your phone or calendar to eat

  • Meal prep so that you do not have to take the time to think about food during the day, you will just have to grab it from the fridge and eat. This way you won’t be distracted from your focus.

  • Needs a good break around 12 or 1 in the day. This is a good time to get outside for a few minutes and just change up the atmosphere so that you can come back ready to refocus.

  • Consistency even on weekends. Try to get up near the same time. Remember your body craves the same things at the same time. You might find yourself fighting fatigue all weekend and that will frustrate you that you feel behind when the work week starts.

  • Afternoon and evenings are the best time to relax and take breaks. Even on weekends, get the chores and errands done earlier.

  • Make sure to take time to set yourself up for the next week. Do the clothes, maybe even pick them out for the week, get your meals planned and prepared so that you can start the week feeling prepared. Nothing tanks an ectomorph more than feeling behind Monday morning.

  • Weight training a few times a week. Avoid cardio everyday. Treadmills are not your friend as the only source of movement. Hiking on weekends, or doing things that require using the major muscle groups will help.

  • Mindfulness activities that help reduce anxiety.

  • Needs to have a well rounded diet WITH carbs, proteins, fats etc... You are the one body type that can eat it all, but you will want to make sure there is balance. You may be able to eat ice cream for breakfast, but that will not help your mind or energy levels.

  • Needs peaceful environments

 

 

If you are ready to make consistency a priority you will see results.

You will not be fighting your body, you will be fighting your mind.
